Not even worth one star. The place is old and dirty. 水凖大不如前!👎👎👎Avoid this place, not a place for seafood. The Lobster is tiny Prince lobster without pincers and it was not mentioned in the menu. They did not even give us a whole 1 lb lobster. We must pay $10 extra for the noodles. The shredded chicken was bad as well ;it contains mostly sour vegetables, only has tiny bit of chicken and jelly first.
Excellent customer service and food quality was above average although not great. Restaurant has been at this location for a long time. Restaurant dining area is very bright and food is fresh. However, the items in the menu is a bit pricey. There were only two servers working on the weeknight I was there for dinner. Limited parking available on the lot as it shares the small parking area with other neighbouring businesses. I normally pay to park on the street.
Good neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Not the best looking, but the food is good. Great for a casual family dinner. Can be cramped when it gets busy.
Food is decent but they don't have enough staff to prepare orders they accept so this Sunday I needed to wait hour and half just to pick up my order ... I'm never going back!
Excellent roast duck. Good sliced chicken with savoury accessories. Other dishes good too.
This dish is so good! At the time we came, the restaurant is loud. The food arrived in good time and was tasty! I would recommend my friends to come here.
Best roast duck
The chicken salad, fried pigeon and the wintermelon soup is to die for. Highly recommended
Really tasty food. A bit pricey. The shredded chicken is their specialty dish.
It was very good overall. A bit prizey. The seafood chow mein was a rip-off. Very little seafood and wet.
Excellent food and kind of elegant for the neighborhood.Moderately priced and the chefs are talented for sure.
One of the more delicious foods can be got here. Don't miss the jelly fish cold dish, and their Taro Duck.Very busy restaurant, definitely needs reservations. Very limited parking, but pay parking along Fraser St is available.
Every dishes are good, worth to what you paid
The food is excellent and authentic. You know it's going to be a great place when it's packed at dinner time with Chinese people loved up to eat there.
Loved this place, great staff, great food. The pork and fried tofu dish was the best!
They have some great signature dishes. Shredded chicken appetizer plate is delicious. Squab is absolutely perfect. Slightly better service than your typical Chinese restaurant. Definitely on the list for my current Chinese restaurant rotation.
This restaurant has been established at this location for over 20 years and their most famous dishes are the BBQ duck, the crispy chicken salad-this is not the leafy green salad but w crispy fired rice flakes, pickled mustard green, diced chicken etc, twin dish of fish which incl an excellent fish broth and a stir fried fish filet, ginger beef w salty-sour mustard green, tapioca pudding w taro root dessert . These are the signature must have dishes and highly recommended to try. For those out of town dinners be sure to book ahead.Parking at the tiny mall is tough but along the Fraser st is easy. This is a more like home style restaurant so do expect the service be slow but well worth the wait and the price of the menu has been raised steady last few years. It is not cheap but worth to try. This is one of my favorite Cantonese style restaurant in town. Don't miss it.
The food was so good in the past. I am not sure if they have changed chefs or so, but in our last visit (about 2 weeks ago), the food we ordered (almost same dishes that we always ordered) didn't taste the same anymore. And the dessert that my in-laws always ordered (i dont know what its called): the pastry on top wasn't baked long enough so it was mushy and the tapioca and green beans part was dry. Overall, quite disappointed...
The tea tastes like plastic
Very good food and service. Will come back for more!
Owner was friendly and helpful. Dated decor. The food was average accept for the lemon chicken which was quite good. Generally, the price was too high for the quality of the food although the portions were good. I think a $15-18 price per dish would have been fair, not $22-25. I would also like to have seen a centre carousel as the table was hard to pass plates and tea across. I enjoyed myself though for two of us the food did not agree. ** 1/2
Authentic Chinese cuisine. Food is delicious and if you come here you have to try their chicken appetizer with the crispy pieces on top. Service may sometimes be slow as the entire place gets packed and only 2 servers working it seems.
Lobster with stickyrice, mixed with greenonions and corn 3.5lb lobster with lots of #muscle and cooked in broth, very tasty Sticky rice is stirred fried with green onion and corn before steaming. The refreshing aroma penetrated into the rice and the rice texture get so much richer and chewy.steam silky bean paste, cuttlefish prawn and veggies It is just simply delicious and matched with the rice so well.
Great service and great food this restaurant serves chinese food canton or south chinese traditional Chinese food and thier is slight twist in the food to bring it to western taste but overall its healthy and delicious recipes
Food was good but the service was severely lacking. The space seemed like they were drastically overbooked and the capacity was definitely beyond fire code. Had reservations for 6pm but told we would likely have to vacate by 8 as they had other bookings. The kitchen couldn't keep up and we were still receiving dishes at 8pm. Recommend to do takeout rather than eat in the restaurant
Father’s Day. I have been waiting at my table for over an hour and we have only had one dish come out. Over a dozen of people ordering takeout have passed by now. Another table that came after is almost finished their meal. I am truly disappointed in the service and time management of the staff. We also asked for another vinegar sauce and they never came back with it...there are only 7 tables eating in. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. there are sm other restaurants with better prices and service. In addition, there is no parking and the restaurant is over all very small and cluttered. The food here is overall good. If you want to eat your dinner in an hour or so, definitely do take out as today they prioritized take out over the dine in.
I have to get the hand shredded chicken every visit. I love the Peking duck but make sure you pre-order. Sometimes they run out. Their baked tapioca pudding dessert is also pretty awesome: Not too sweet and that pineapple bun topping that I love!
This is a throw back to the Chinese food of the 70's and 80's available in downtown Chinatown. There are lots of menu items, some familiar, some not so much so but the stand bys like sweet and sour pork, walnut beef, spicy crab/lobster, lettuce wrap, peking duck, crisyp skin chicken, gai lan, pea shoots....all really good. Go with a group, at least four or more so you can try a variety of dishes. Whenever we go the staff greet us with recomendations and specials, service is fast and friendly. If you want Richmond style fancy schmancy Chinese food, don't bother with Koon Bo but if you want delicous food and comfortable, unpretentious surroundings, then Koon Bo is a place you will enjoy.
Great food, fairly high prices for Van east and sub-par service when it gets busy. Go in with those expectations it'll be a good meal. Reservations recommended. Some dishes need to ordered in advance.
This restaurant has been here forever. Decades. It's one of these typical old style Cantonese restaurants in Vancouver. The place was renovated recently. But the food is still the same as before (not the best I have had, but reasonable quality and price). This place is slightly nicer (upper scale) than your typical fair. And it certainly has its loyal followings. Nevertheless, the tables are as packed as is typical of such places, and it's as shoothanded as one would expect. The place could also be loud at times.
Food is just mediocre. Kind of pricy compare other Chinese resturant.
Winter-melon soup is really good! Dishes are a bit salty but overall a nice restaurant for dinning.
Friendly quick service. Incredible food! Must get is the shredded chicken and the roasted duck.
One of the best roast squab / duck in town. Girlfriend had a craving for the authentic squab dish, so we did the research online and decided to to here and try it out.Taste: above average, not too strong nor mild, my parents enjoyed itService: great service, just very very very slow, we waited for 20 minutes until the first dish come , and the restaurant was not busy at the time (probably only 4 tables of customers)Pricing: above averageWill definitely swing by again if gf has the same craving for the squab again.
Went here yesterday and I must say the quality definitely went downhill. We ordered the set menu which was $350 dollars and it wasn't worth it to be honest. The best dish was the chicken salad and the quail (even though it was on the saltier side. But the rest of the dishes was just meh. For the price it isn't worth it at all. Another reason I won't be back is they say that they accept credit, debit and cash on their website and even on the storefront it reads interac but when we confirmed on the phone they said because you ordered a set menu and its "discounted" we only accept cash. WTHeck! seriously keep to what you have posted online and on your storefront. Very deceiving I must say!
Went to Koon Bo from a recommendation during our week long family Vancouver trip. Thank goodness we made reservations! It was packed! It’s not a very big restaurant with limited parking within the strip mall location. Tables were also very packed together. The hand pulled chicken is quite delicious. But there wasn’t much actual chicken in it considering we ordered the full size. And I think there were only 3 strands of jelly fish to found amongst all the crunchy filler and pickled veggies. the winter melon soup was good and so is their baked tapioca pudding dessert. We also pre ordered the Squab. But I found it disappointing. Very dry and extremely salty. I’ve had much better. The meal ended up costing $368 for 8 adults. The food and service was mediocre. I would say it was overpriced and the meal we least enjoyed on our trip!
A very popular Chinese restaurant. Reservation is recommended, especially with a large group. Portion size is large and a variety of dishes. The 手撕雞 is a must appetizer. Only down side is parking, which is very limited.
SERVICES WERE GOOD, some dishes were GOOD too. just some were TERRIBLy SALTY. ESPECIALLY the lobster and the fish. my FAMILY of eight ,ALL found them unacceptable SALTY.
The legendary chicken salad. You've got to try it to understand. Their own invention, I think. Don't go there for the environment cuz you know it's an old plaza and very busy place.
Great food. Hard working staff, they we going non stop the while time with the restaurant at capacity. I recommend making reservations. At this time they don't accept mastercard but do accept visa.
The store front doesn't look interesting, but the seafood dishes are good. Some of its specialities are worth trying.
The outside is inauspicious (strip mall), and the inside is a bit grim. Definitely not winning any awards for ambiance. But the food is fantastic. Eat here if you want good food and don't care that there are holes in the table cloth.
Service is fast and the food is big portion with a reasonable price. Do make reservation as they can get really busy, especially on a Friday night
Great place for Chinese food. It does look a bit run down but it's extremely popular. Make sure you make a reservation. Price wise, it is comparable to other Chinese restaurants of this calibre.
While the food is alrite, they are woefully understaffed and the layout of the restaurant is extremely cramped. Also the AC system cannot handle so many people so it becomes uncomfortably hot and almost impossible to enjoy your meal.Recommended take out instead
If large parties of people are willing to wait in line for 20-40 minutes, even with a reservation, the food has to be good. Hand pulled chicken (sau si gai) and beef fried rice noodles very good. Squab, pea tips, and sago pudding good. There were only 3 waiters/waitresses working the whole joint! They were speedy as heck but still unable to keep up with the demands of the packed restaurant.
I would like to give this restaurant a giant zero..as their service is obnoxious and they are very tricky! We have to take care our own table as they did not serve the table with the plates and bowls. We ordered beef curry but came out as chicken curry, small portion with a few pieces of chicken. We accepted just because we did not want to give them a difficult time but on the bill it mentioned as beef curry and they said chicken curry has the same price like beef. All the prices are very pricey and the portion is small. The food tastes plain and salty. Will never come again.
The shredded chicken is the best! Restaurant is a bit small and the parking lot is tiny so i would suggest not going during busy hours. The portions are pretty big so it's easy to over order :)
Good family restaurant.
Very good food and delicious too.
